Out of Touch

I think it’s time to get back to this…

Facebook Likes Skype

At the Facebook “awesome” event, it was announced that video calling will be integrated into Facebook using Skype.  This is huge. Smart that they worked it out as a plug-in over the bulky Skype thick client.

Even smarter, in my opinion, is Microsoft. Already a big investor in Facebook, they just recently made the deal to buy Skype! What a benefactor of some great technology integration.

Kinect SDK

Microsoft released the software developer kit for their Kinect sensor.

The Kinect is an impressive piece of hardware and the intuitive interface that MS has built into Xbox 360 is very cool. I’m looking forward to what we’ll see on the desktop as this device moves into the office.

Minority Report – we’re almost there!

The SDK is available here.

Plus 1 for B&N

So it appears Google has added the Plus 1 button to everything now by allowing partner sites to add the button to their content too. Neat idea. Even though the Google +1 button functions the same as a Facebook Like button, I really like the way Google implemented it in their search results within a social circle.

Speaking of Plus 1…

Score for Barnes and Noble as the new Nook is the bomb.  Small and fast, this is great competition for the Amazon Kindle.

Social TV

BeeTV is a social TV service that is a real-time hub for viewers’ activity around TV.

Newsflash: there is no activity around TV. People sit and do nothing while getting bombarded with audio and video.

I’m not a TV hater, it has a time and place. But I have never been one to live according to a series schedule. I couldn’t tell you what the hit shows are right now because I don’t care.

So BeeTV has just released an iPad application for users to chat about what they are watching at the moment.

I’m sorry…
Get up and get out of the house people.

I prefer to catch up with the “lads at the pub” than to chat on an iPad about what I’m watching on TV!
